adri[án] velázquez

Hola — I’m adri[án] velázquez, an independent photographer based in Mexico City.

My work has been shaped by years of moving throughout the world, where photography became a way to document stories rooted in human rights, social justice, and politics. Both my lived experience and that of the people I’ve been privileged to meet and work with along the way continue to inform how I observe, compose and tell stories through images.

Versatility is at the core of my practice. Self-taught with a keen eye for creativity, I move fluidly between different settings and subjects adapting to each space with precise perspective. Building trust with the people I photograph is imperative to my process — it’s this relationship that allows me to capture not just images, but the essence and movement in front of my lens.

Working primarily in film and complemented by digital photography, I focus on politics, culture, dining and lifestyle. I operate primarily between Mexico and the United States, and am also available for assignments globally.
